MOT testing
We carry out Class 4 MOT tests in our own DVSA-approved bay for £54.85. The test takes about 45 minutes, so you can wait, and you can book online from the next working day. If the car fails, we ring you with the fault and the price before any repair starts.
Car servicing
We offer three services: Bronze from £190, Silver from £288 and Gold from £417. Each tier includes everything in the one below it. You drop the car off between 08:30 and 10:00, and we confirm the final price for your car before any work starts.
Diagnostics and auto electrics
A diagnostic costs £144, which is £120 plus VAT. We read the stored fault codes, then test the circuit until we know which part has failed, and you get the price before any repair. Batteries, alternators, starter motors and wiring faults are all done at Tyne Road.
Air conditioning
We regas, leak test and clean air conditioning systems that use R134a or R1234yf gas. We price each car individually, because the two gases cost different amounts. Ring with your registration and we will tell you which gas your car takes and what the job costs.
Tyres and puncture repair
A puncture repair costs £25 per tyre, including fitting, a new valve and wheel balancing. We only repair a tyre where British Standard BSAU159 allows it, and we do not repair run-flat tyres.
Bodywork and paint
Our bodyshop repairs dents, scratches, bumper scuffs and damaged panels, and we paint in our own booth, matched to your car's paint code. Send three photos from your phone for a free estimate. A small repair usually spends 1 day in the booth, a medium one 2 days and a large one 5.
Accident repair and recovery
We repair accident damage, including structural repairs on a jig, and we deal with your insurer and their engineer while the car is with us. If the car should not be driven, ring us and we will arrange recovery.
What makes Krause Autos different
The garage and the bodyshop are on one site
An MOT failure and a dented wing are one visit to Tyne Road. Halfords states on its own help pages that it is not able to complete any bodywork repairs in its stores or garages. Kwik Fit's Bedford centre on The Broadway lists sixteen services, and none of them is bodywork, paint or accident repair.

Every price is on the site before you book
The MOT is £54.85. Bronze, Silver and Gold servicing start at £190, £288 and £417. A diagnostic is £144, and a puncture repair is £25 a tyre. £54.85 is the most any garage can charge for a Class 4 MOT, and it is what we charge; what you get for it is a test on the same site as the workshop and the bodyshop, and a phone call with a price before any repair.
A bodywork price from your phone
Most bodywork can be priced from photographs, and our bodyshop takes about five minutes to look at them. The estimate is free and there is no obligation. There is usually one to two weeks between the estimate and the repair, because the booth takes one car at a time, and we tell you the date when you agree the work.

We are an AA Approved garage and a DVSA-approved MOT test station. We are members of the Good Garage Scheme and Checkatrade, and we are accredited by the National Body Repair Association, which describes itself as the UK's sole trade association for car body repairers and whose members follow a Code of Practice approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute. Our work carries a 12-month guarantee on parts and labour.

The test takes about 45 minutes, and waiting slots run every 45 minutes from 08:30 to 14:30. Three of the team are MOT testers.

How Krause Autos works

Opening hours. Monday to Saturday 08:30 to 17:30. Closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
Who you deal with. The office team take your call and your booking, and the bodyshop team price your photographs.
How long the work takes. An MOT takes about 45 minutes. A service is a day drop-off, and we ring you when the car is ready. Bodywork takes 1 to 5 days in the booth, depending on size. We order parts the same day if we order them before 16:00.
Your first visit. Bring the car and the locking wheel nut key, because it is the thing customers most often forget. If you cannot come in during opening hours, you can use the key drop, and the car can stay on site overnight.
Paying. You pay at the garage when the work is done. There is no deposit, and nothing is paid online.
Work we do not take. We do not work on LPG conversions. We do not take large vans or motorhomes that will not fit a standard car ramp. We do not fit parts that customers supply, because our guarantee covers only the parts we supply. We do not offer courtesy cars or collection and delivery.
