What Type of Vehicle can be Tuned?

Any vehicle can be tuned, including petrol or diesel engines fitted with fuel injection, carburettor or catalyst, with or without an ignition distributor.

What is Covered within the Engine Test Programme?

Petrol Engines

  • Battery, starter motor and the associated wiring

  • Battery charging rate, vehicle current draw and alternator

  • Distributor assembly, cap and rotor arm, plus ignition timing variation

  • Ignition module operation and coil dwell function

  • Coil output, together with spark duration

  • Spark plugs and plug lead performance

  • Carburettor/injection duration

  • Exhaust gas measurements (to MOT testing standard)

  • Cylinder condition and relative compression test

  • Fuel injection variation

What is Covered within the Engine Test Programme?

Diesel Engines

  • Battery, starter motor and associated wiring

  • Battery charging rate, vehicle current draw and alternator

  • Heater glow plug, current draw, pre-glow timer check

  • Heater glow plug, post-glow timer check

  • Fuel injection pump operation (plus timing where marks are available)

  • Exhaust smoke density measurements (to MOT testing standard)

  • All of the above will be documented on an A4 printout and given to you as a record of the entire test carried out on your vehicle.
